I have lived in south Georgia for twenty-two years.  Before that I lived in middle Georgia for almost nine years.  I was born in north Georgia fifty-...uh...a long time ago...and I think I have the credentials to say that Georgia is a great place to live!  At least it has been for my family and me.

(Glowing adjectives follow.)  I have been married to my fantastic husband since 1973 and we have two wonderful grown children, a daughter and a son.  Our beautiful daughter and her handsome husband presented us with our first grandchild, a boy, on September 6, 2008.  He is quite a joy to us all.  Our handsome son finished his accounting degree here in the summer of 2009 and moved to north Georgia to work as an accountant.  (He is actually a drummer at heart, though.)  Want to hear my sentiments about being an empty-nester?

A POEM ON A RESTLESS NIGHT

(Copyrighted by June B. Anderson)

We are a couple with two kids that are grown.

Both have moved out and are now on their own.

Our only daughter's married with a son almost one.

The one that just moved out is our only son.

I can't seem to think of anymore words

Except this empty nest stuff is for the birds!

(August 20, 2009)

In the mid '80's, I became a born-again Christian.  Best decision of my life.  Check out the rest of my site to read more about that...and other stuff, too!

I wore my hair shortish for about 30 years but recently donated my hair, for the second time, to an organization called "Locks of Love."  They make wigs for financially disadvantaged children who have lost their hair, for whatever reason, although many of their clients are children who have alopecia areata, a condition involving permanent hair loss.  That can be awfully traumatic for both the children and the adults who love them.  I picked up on the idea of donating my tresses after my daughter heard about it before her wedding in 2004 and decided that she would donate her ponytail...so in May of that year, I had my hair cut for her June wedding and let it grow until I had it cut in August, 2006, and sent it to Locks of Love.  It was such a gratifying experience that I let it grow and had it cut in March, 2008, and donated it again.  However, my husband says it's time for a change now!  I agree, but it surely is a great (and free!) way to let someone know you care.

GENEALOGY

I could sit at my computer and research my family history for hours practically every day.  (I don't, but I could!)  It is a fascinating pasttime that I can get lost in if I'm not careful.  ("When's supper?" "Are you still alive back there?"  "Are you ready to go yet?")

I just love these old pictures.   Aren't they neat?
