In the mid-'80's, I lived in middle Georgia and sang in the choir at my church.  A friend in the choir invited me...and kept inviting me...to a Bible study, which I was NOT interested in, and I always came up with some lame excuse to decline her repeated invitations.  One day I had no excuse and thought that if I agreed to go, she would shut up about it! (By the way, going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a Cadillac!)  I went and that day the lesson was on how to become a Christian and why you would want to do such a thing.  The study explained (using the Bible, which God wrote, so you know it's perfect) that everyone sins and is separated from God because of that sin and is in need of a way to be restored to a right relationship with Him.  He provided the way Himself through His Son, Jesus Christ, Whom He allowed to die for our sins because He loves us so much.  Jesus is the only person who ever lived a sinless life (because He's God!) and the substitute for our sins had to be perfect, spotless, sinless.  That's why it had to be Jesus.  Not only did He die for us because He loves us, but He also came back to life on the third day after His death, and when you confess your sins to Him and ask Him to come into your life to be your Savior and redeem your life so you can be right with God (and you're sincere about it) He does!  He comes right in and begins to work in your life to make you all that God wants you to be...and it's a great life!  AND you get to go to Heaven for eternity!  I would NEVER go back to that other me.  I don't like her...and you wouldn't either.  (Thank you, Joyce, for not giving up on inviting me to that Bible study!)
